Chandler Industries, a precision machining and sheet metal fabricating company with divisions in Minnesota and Mexico is looking for a Machine Maintenance Technician to join our team! This position is based out of our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Blaine, MN!

This position is responsible for performing advanced mechanical breakdown and preventive maintenance that includes inspection, repair, and revision of CNC machinery/mechanisms and equipment to minimize downtime. Partners with management, engineering and vendors regarding new machinery/equipment selection, layout, and specification.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, adjusts, and repairs machinery/mechanisms and equipment according to work assigned in an efficient manner to minimize operation downtime. Responsible for electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work on equipment.
  • Minimizes downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts, and external contacts.
  • Facilitates installation of, makes alterations to, and rebuilds facility machinery and equipment.
  • Performs routine, preventative CNC machine maintenance; ensures PM program/schedule is followed.
  • Communicates with outside resources to diagnose/troubleshoot machine repairs, when necessary.
  • Documents repairs, preventative maintenance, total predictive maintenance, and safety procedures to ensure equipment reliability, quality control and improve overall operation of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs various machine tool hydraulic and pneumatic systems including actuators, valves, pumps, and filters.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machine tool mechanical systems including ball screws, linear rails, guideways, and gearboxes.
  • Collaborates with production and engineering teams to ensure the smooth integration and maintenance activities in the production schedule.
  • Recommends what parts to inventory in order to provide equipment reliability and timely repair.
  • racks and provides data to engineering and management on machinery and equipment expenses.
  • Plans and paces work efficiently to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
  • Drives forklifts and company vehicles.
  • Employs a high degree of safety, accuracy, and precision in performing work according to instructions and specifications.
  • Assists safety committee with safety recommendations, changes, or repairs; may serve as a member of the safety committee.
  • Maintains an organized, clean, and safe environment and maintains 5 “S” standards. Complies with safety rules including PPE and OSHA standards.
  • Participates in Lean initiatives eliminating wastes including overproduction, defects, transportation, waiting, inventory, motion, and over-processing. Supports continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Overtime may be required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or 2-year associate degree in technical related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Machine Maintenance Technician in a precision machining or contract manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of CNC machinery, including controls, motors, and automation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, diagram knowledge, and equipment and machinery service manuals.
  • Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in English language.
  • Strong math and analytical skills are required to gather, analyze, and interpret data, technical specifications, and blueprints/drawings, ensure sound decision making, and find appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge and working experience with MS Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a multitude of machinery and equipment and PLC and Fanuc controls.
  • Knowledge of TPM and PM elements and how to reduce repairs while optimizing equipment productivity.
  • Skilled with equipment and machinery troubleshooting testing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to identify and evaluate complex, ambiguous technical issues and provide well thought out solutions.
  • Cooperative attitude, shares critical information, and remains professional in difficult situations.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams.
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance issues.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and work with little supervision in a “hands on” manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrician License.
  • CNC Machinery Repair Training Class Certification including but not limited to Haas, Matsuura, Cincinnati, Robo Drill, Okuma, Fada, Mori Seiki, Makino, and Doosan.
