Vice President of Finance

The Vice President of Finance will report to the CEO of Chandler and be directly responsible for the finance/accounting and information technology departments, which includes a current team of eight FTE’s. 

The Vice President of Finance will plan, direct, and control the assets, financial plans and policies, and accounting practices for the Company.  The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for the management of specific functions within Chandler including treasury, budgeting, tax accounting, information technology, legal and insurance activities, and various administrative functions.  The Vice President of Finance will lead relationships with outside auditors, as well as present financial data and originate report packages to the CEO, the Executive Management team, and the Board of Directors.  Working with the Chairman of the Board, the Vice President of Finance will manage the Company’s banking relationships including ensuring both the most appropriate capital structure and efficient cost of capital.  The Vice President of Finance will partner with the Executive Management team and individual operating teams to ensure that the highest return on both corporate assets and shareholder value is being realized.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a defined leader in the organization and as part of the Executive Management team, working with the CEO to drive results and continue to build upon the Company’s growth oriented and positive culture.
  • Participate in the strategic planning efforts of the Company and in the development and implementation of key strategic initiatives to achieve operational and financial company objectives.
  • Build trust and credibility with the management and operations teams, lenders, auditors, board members, and shareholders.
  • Strong background and interest in plant operations, manufacturing cost analysis, and exhibit ability to drive improvements to operations and realize corresponding growth in profitability.
  • Evaluate, organize, implement, and direct the company’s finance function.
  • Evaluate contract profitability from quote/new product development through production.  Ability to measure contract profitability over the contract term (generally 3-5 years) versus profitability projected in the quoting process.
  • Evaluate potential and actual return on capital for CAPEX purchases and make recommendations as to “go/no go” decisions.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures for the control and management of all of the Company’s capital resources.
  • Directly participate in all corporate activities that involve the use of company financial, legal, and administrative resources.
  • Act as key interface with lending institutions, external auditors, and taxing authorities.  
  • Prepare and present financial data and reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, lenders, auditors, and other outside groups as required.
  • Supervise and direct the consolidation and preparation of all financial reports.
  • Coordinate budgetary activities, closely monitor the budget, and communicate results.  
  • Select and administer all insurance policies to address liability and casualty risks.
  • Manage the accounting function to ensure timely month end close and accurate financial reporting.
  • Be a key participant in review of company benefits and selection such as medical, dental, 401k and member of 401k Plan Committee.
  • Oversee the corporation’s information technology assets and resources to ensure appropriate data, connectivity, and security is provided for all internal users.
  • Develop and oversee corporate cash management and credit policies.
  • Provide commercial review and approval of significant customer and supplier initiatives.
  • Oversee payroll.
  • Coordinate and ensure accurate and timely filing of all state and federal tax returns.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of industry trends.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance with a CPA license required, and an MBA highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.  In addition, this person must have 10+ years of experience as a Controller, Director of Finance, VP of Finance or equivalent. 
  • History of interacting with both a CEO and the Board of Directors.  Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses within the finance department, mentor staff, and make changes where and when necessary.  
  • The successful candidate will possess the ability to apply analytical, strategic, and tactical thinking to the planning process and have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional organization, yielding desired financial and operational results.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a commanding presence, demonstrate strong general business skills, and evidence the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.  
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop departmental personnel.
  • Ability to identify and resolve accounting and financial issues in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to provide financial leadership and clear direction to staff.
  • Well versed in accounting, finance, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Willingness, interest, and ability to get involved in the operations of the business in order to make key strategic and financial decisions. 
  • Proven ability in establishing, maintaining, and enforcing corporate policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively deliver formal presentations.
  • Strong business acumen.  This includes knowledge about how businesses work, business trends and the implications to their business, strong competitive knowledge, and how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.  
  • Ability to manage change and use creative alternatives to solve problems.  
  • Team player able to fit the existing culture and help lead the organization to the next level.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and delegate to staff.    
  • Ability and willingness to work in hands-on situations yet understand the high level financial and company objectives.

  • Ability to travel via air/automobile 5% of the time.
